My house has vinyl siding and I’m not willing to permanently screw or nail down the lattice to the outside wall, so I came up with an idea to hang the lattice to the siding itself using heavy duty hooks made for hanging home security camera to vinyl siding. It was a very windy afternoon as I sizing up the lattice next to the house and measuring where I needed to drill holes in the lattice. I realized with the gap between the lattice and house, the wind would be catching the underside of the lattice and putting a lot of strain to the siding itself and most likely tear it apart during a storm.
As I considered my next options, I decided to ditch the lattice but stick with the general design. I will use the same hooks to attached the top of the verticals to the side of the house. Since the height intervals of where I can place the clips is based the height of the vinyl slats, there will most likely be some slack in the wire. I’ll be able to easily remove the slack by sliding the hook to the outside of the antenna “fan”. I just have to be cautious to maintain separation from adjacent verticals. The hooks will also become part of the antenna which may affect my tuning. I subtracted 1/2 inch from my band measurements, but we’ll have to see what the antenna analyzer says once we get the verticals up.
I found the vinyl siding hooks on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Siding-No-Hole-Needed-Outdoor-Security/dp/B07XG17SPY
